Swine Flu Safety

As new reports of Swine Flu continue to appear all across the country, the CDC is desperately trying to stop the spread of Swine Flu from becoming an international epidemic. It is necessary for every healthcare provider to familiarize themselves with the symptoms and take proper precaution.
Symptoms include traditional Influenza symptoms such as cough, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, runny nose, and muscle aches. Any person who has these symptoms and has traveled outside of the country or has been in contact with an individual who has had a confirmed diagnosis of Swine Flu-Swine Flu must be ruled out.
According to the CDC, the following BSI precautions must be worn when in contact with an individual with suspected Swine Flu:
  • The Cardinal Healthcare N95 Face mask is an excellent Swine Flu Face Mask. These face masks can be purchased at www.dealmed.com.
  • CDC recommends double gloves. However, the Microflex Safegrip Hi-Risk glove is an excellent glove for Swine Flu. This glove seems to be the safest to use for maximum protection from Swine Flu.
  • The most appropriate disinfectant for Swine Flu is Caviwipes. Caviwipes has been laboratory tested to kill traditional influenza in 3 minutes. Therefore Caviwipes will have the same effect of Swine Flu and kill Swine flu in about 3 minutes as well. Caviwipes are in stock and may be purchased at www.dealmed.com.
